Giving Back to Gaia
Hi all,
Recently a group of PAC members attended several talks and practical sessions with Pak Soo on the benefits of using Effective Microorganisms (EM) to rehabilitate the environment.
In theory, our environment today consists of about 15% “bad microorganism” (think rotting), 15% “good microorganisms: (think fermentation of wine) and remainder 70% “neutral microorganisms” which will swing either way depending on the majority. Unfortunately our environment today has more “bad microorganisms” due to man-made pollution.
EM is a specially cultivated melting pot of “good microorganism”, where applied correctly to the environment will hope to tip the balance and in doing so instigate the “neutral microorganisms” to cross over and start cleaning up the environment.
More information on Effective Microorganisms (EM) will follow in the web-link above.
We are trying to organize a briefing session for members, invited representatives of NGO’s under MPPP and those interested; to inform on the benefits of EM and how we can use EM to rehabilitate our environment and to enrich our standard or living.
On 8th August 2009, there will be an event – “A Million Apologies to Mother Nature” where the target of 1-million mudballs will be thrown into Sg Nibong (where Intel’s Red-Bridge spans). If this proof-of-concept is successful will create awareness of Effective Microorganism and it is theorized that if 20% of Penangites use EM in their daily lives, we can bring the shine back to Our Pearl of the Orient.
So keep a lookout for the coming informative briefings, informative websites, mudball making sessions & 8th Aug 2009 and we hope to see many of you participating in our coming events. Sign up on Feedburner on the sidebar to receive updates via email.
